ENOS® – What is it?
ENOS ® is an abbreviation for “ electronic emergency call and location system ” . It is an emergency call system for divers (and other water sports enthusiasts) that supports the search for people on the surface. ENOS ® is a registered private label. The ENOS ® system consists of 2 parts: the ENOS ® receiver on board the diving vessel and the ENOS ® transmitter, which is carried by the diver. Why an ENOS ® system? Sometimes it happens that divers surface far away from the boat. Too far to swim back. Due to strong currents, divers can drift out into the open sea and easily become unseen. This can lead to a long search, which in the past has not always had a positive outcome. The ENOS ® system was developed to be able to give a signal in such a dangerous situation and to be rescued quickly . What are the advantages, especially for divers? The ENOS ® system is the first rescue system to offer transmitters that are pressure tested up to 100m. The switch on the ENOS ® transmitter is easy to operate – even with gloves. Thanks to its technology, the ENOS ® system works independently and does not need support from other rescue institutions (eg SAR) or from other technologies ( GMDSS , AIS , VHF ). Therefore, the ENOS ® system can be used worldwide, even in remote areas. If it is not available for technical reasons, there is no right to reimbursement
